In the modern, fast-paced world we live in, Starbucks came up with an idea for commuters to save time getting their cup of joe in the morning. Now, all you need to get your morning cup of Starbucks coffee is a smartphone, the Starbucks app and lots of money. The app allows you to skip the line. Instead, simply place the order on your phone then go to your local Starbuck and pick up your drink.
But not all coffee drinkers are Starbucks lovers and not everyone wants to pay $4.50 (more or less) every morning for coffee. Plus, Starbuck coffee comes in paper cups, contributing to the 2.6 trillion pounds of waste created each year globally.
What if you could brew a cup of gourmet coffee in less than 5 minutes and save some money too?

Today, we are reviewing GSI Outdoors Commuter Javapress. This 15 fl. oz. portable French press and travel coffee mug may fit the bill if you are looking for an easy to use, fast brewing, portable and great looking two-in-one type of coffee maker/mug.
To use the javapress, first, add 2 tablespoons of ground coffee to the outer carafe. Slip the insulating sleeve onto the carafe, then the non-slip foot.
Add boiling water up to an inch from the top. Give it a stir and immediately place the inner carafe slowly into the outer carafe (not all the way down, just about an inch into the outer carafe).
The next step: place the flip-top lid on top of the inner carafe so as to preserve the coffee’s temperature. Let the coffee sit for about 3 to 4 minutes, remove the lid and gently push the inner carafe all the way down.
Place the lid on top of the carafe. Add sugar or milk according to taste. Now you are ready to commute or travel and start drinking your coffee.
The GSI Outdoors commuter javapress is also suitable for travelers, road-trippers, and campers. You don’t have to worry about days without freshly brewed coffee. Just remember to pack your favorite ground coffee beans while on the road. But if you are on your RV or are able to pack a burr coffee grinder, or don’t mind bringing a large suitcase while traveling, you may want to consider bringing everything for the ultimate coffee experience while on the road.
Some reviewers commented that the GSI Outdoors Commuter Javapress is not spill-proof. Just like any travel mug, you are not supposed to place it upside down. We have been testing it for 10 days and had a spill problem while drinking from this javapress. Reason being: we didn’t push the inner carafe all the way down. That was the only spill problem. We never had an issue after that one experience.
Our only complaint is that the Commuter Javapress is not insulated, which means our coffee did not stay hot for long. To be precise it got lukewarm in about 2 hours. Most travel coffee mugs have the same problem as well after 2 hours.
