Te & Kaffi Shop Inside Eymundsson Bookstore

Our tour guide said while in Reykjavik we must visit a bookstore. So we headed over to Eymundsson on Austurstræti 18, in the older part of Reykjavik. Eymundsson has three locations in the city.

When you are in Eymundsson you are ‘killing two birds with one stone’, that is to visit one of the oldest bookstores in Iceland and to drink coffee in one of Iceland’s popular chain coffee shops- Te&Kaffi (Tea and Coffee). Te&Kaffi has 14 locations in Reykjavik.

Décor and ambience
Te&Kaffi opened its first shop in 1984. They roast their own coffee and sell them retail and wholesale. Every Te&Kaffi shop in Reykjavik has a different ambience but they sure have the same tasting coffee and logo.

We like the Te&Kaffi Shop at Eymundsson Austurstræti located at the back of the store with bright natural light from the glass walls and ceilings. Coffee drinkers could choose outdoor or indoor seats.

While sipping the coffee, grab a book or magazine to read. The baristas were friendly and fast. There was free Wi-Fi.

Coffee: Type, price and taste
Like many of Reykjavik coffee shops, regular coffee has free refills. Another attraction is free water from the water jug where customers could help themselves.

The price of regular coffee was 435 krona, cappuccino in two sizes at 525 and 585 krona, marchiatto 465 and 525 krona, espresso at 395 krona and our Americano at 445 krona.

The shop has a variety of cakes, cookies and croissant.

How to get there
Austurstræti is a busy street in Rekyavik about 10-15 minutes walk from the Old Harbor area and less than five minutes walk from the main tourist information center.

Nearest tourist/fascinating attractions
The Old Harbor, Harpa Concert Hall and The Settlement Exhibition.
