I drink cold brew coffee all year round. Sometimes I just add a little milk or a ½ teaspoon of a coffee syrup like vanilla or hazelnut.

And sometimes, to change it up, I’ll add cold foam.

This is cold frothed milk that adds a fun layer to the top of the coffee and when I add flavor to the cold foam too, it adds even more variations to a standard cup of cold brew coffee.

Here, I’ll show you how to make one of my favorites, inspired by Starbucks – the Salted Caramel Cream Cold Brew.

It’s simple and you can easily make it in no time.

What is a Salted Caramel Cream Cold Brew?

Salted Caramel Cream Cold Brew is a cold coffee drink at Starbucks available year round.

It’s a sweet and savory cold brew coffee drink that’s topped with a salted cold foam. According to their website, the ingredients include Ice, Brewed Coffee, Salted Vanilla Sweet Cream, Milk, Vanilla Syrup, Caramel Syrup.

For our Salted Caramel Cream Cold Brew, we’ll brew cold brew coffee, mix caramel syrup with it and pour it over ice. Then top the coffee with a salty cold foam.

What does Salted Caramel Cold Brew taste like?

It’s a little sweet and a little salty – it’s the perfect balance of both. As you take a sip, you’ll first taste the salted cold foam, then taste the sweetness from the caramel-flavored cold brew coffee.

Tips for Making Salted Caramel Cream Cold Brew

Cold Brew Concentrate

I made cold brew coffee using Stone Cold Jo coffee beans.

While this is a blend made for cold brew, you don’t actually need to use coffee beans specifically labeled cold brew to make cold brew coffee. You can just use your favorite coffee beans, but just make sure that you get coarsely ground coffee, or grind whole beans yourself coarsely.

You’ll also need to plan in advance as it takes around 12-14 hours for the coffee beans to steep.

Cold Foam Milk Ratio

I used oat milk in these photos. The foam holds but doesn’t stay for very long, but it’s a good option if you’re looking to make dairy-free cold foam.

The best option I found to make cold foam is with skim milk. Or 1 part heavy cream, 3 parts skim milk. These hold up, meaning the milk doesn’t immediately mix in with the cold brew and will separate on top for longer.

Milk Frothing Options

I used a Miroco Electric Milk Frother. This is very versatile and easy to use. It contains several settings, including a cold foam setting that can make cold foam for you.

If you want to make this recipe now and don’t have a milk frother, here are some options you can use to froth milk:

Caramel Flavor

I used Caramel Syrup to mix with the cold brew coffee.

You can also use caramel sauce, like the Torani Caramel Sauce that I used to drizzle on top of the cold foam. Both will mix with the cold brew coffee.
