If you’re looking to recreate one of Starbucks’ shaken espresso drinks, you’ve come to the right place. We’ve made the Iced Shaken Espresso at home, so now it’s time for the Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso.

This recipe uses the same shaking concept as the Iced Shaken Espresso, but we’ll be adding a few more complementary flavors, including brown sugar and cinnamon.

This non-dairy iced drink at Starbucks is made with Ice, Oatmilk, Brewed Espresso, Brown Sugar Syrup and Cinnamon as listed on their website. We’ll make our own brown sugar syrup and shake it with brewed espresso, ice and cinnamon and top it off with oat milk.

Here’s how.

Which oat milk does Starbucks use?

If you’re wondering, Starbucks uses Oatly oat milk. Feel free to use Oatly too, or your favorite oat milk brand for this recipe.

Tips for Making Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso

Espresso

I used a moka pot to brew espresso and Cafe du Monde coffee. You can use Starbucks Espresso Dark Roast too.

Espresso is made with espresso machines, but if you don’t have one at home or prefer using other brewing methods, check out our guide to making espresso without an espresso machine.

I like using my moka pot because it’s easy to use and brews a concentrated, espresso like coffee.

Ice

I shake about 1.5 cups of the ice with the espresso and save the other half cup for topping with the oat milk.

Brown Sugar Syrup

I made my own brown sugar syrup at home. It’s really simple. All you need are equal amounts of brown sugar and water.

  1. Place brown sugar and water over medium heat.
  2. Stir until brown sugar dissolves.
  3. Wait for syrup to cool down.
  4. Pour into mason jar and store in the refrigerator.

That’s it!

You can also purchase syrup from Torani.

Ground Cinnamon

Check out our guide for mixing cinnamon with coffee.

For this instance, I just put the ground cinnamon into the cocktail shaker to mix. But I’d also recommend adding the ground cinnamon into the coffee grounds before brewing. This way you get cinnamon-flavored espresso and it will blend easily without having clumps of ground cinnamon.

Oat Milk

Starbucks uses Oatly oat milk. You can use the same or your favorite oat milk brand.
