Coffee and Baked Goods at Its Best in Queens New York: Nita’s European Bakery

Nita’s European Bakery on 4010 Greenpoint Avenue, Sunnyside Queens offers no Wi-Fi or the convenience of using a credit card but the place has the best baked goods. As for the coffee, let’s talk about that later.

Décor and ambience
This is not a fancy place but we love the neighborhood feel of the bakery. The smell of baked goods and coffee infused the store every time we set foot at the door. Nita’s European Bakery has been around for over 30 years. All baked goods are freshly baked at the store.

Owned by Romanian immigrants, Romanian is still being spoken at the store. There are three tables and a few chairs along the wall facing the counters filled with freshly baked savory and sweet pastries, cookies and cakes. It is indeed an old school place that accepts only cash and still uses the red and white thread to tie the white boxes.

The workers are friendly and are always available to answer any questions even when there is a line of waiting customers.

Coffee: Type, price and taste
Nita’s European Bakery sells filtered coffee. A small coffee is 80 cents and the large coffee is $1.25. The perfect pairing of freshly baked cookies, croissants and cakes with the normal filtered coffee always made this place extra special.

The coffee may not appeal to a coffee snob. Where else could you get hot filtered coffee for 80 cents?

Baked goods range from $1.25 to $2.50 per piece. Each freshly baked roll is 30 cents and bagel is 40 cents.
