We’ve made the Peppermint Mocha, Toasted White Chocolate Mocha and Eggnog Latte. So now it’s time for the Caramel Brulee Latte.

This is one of the seasonal holiday Starbucks drinks. And it’s the drink especially for the caramel lovers.

What is in a Caramel Brulee Latte?

Starbucks lists the following ingredients in their Caramel Brulee Latte: Milk, Caramel Brulee Sauce, Brewed Espresso, Whipped Cream, Vanilla Syrup and Caramel Brulee Topping.

They brew their signature espresso and add steamed milk and their caramel brulee sauce. Then they top the drink with whipped cream and what they call a caramel brulee topping.

I recreated it also using espresso. I mixed in Torani Caramel Sauce and steamed milk (almond milk.) And for the topping, I also used whipped cream and since the caramel brulee topping is something unique to Starbucks, I decided to use a caramel cookie called a stroopwafel.

Stroopwafels are from the Netherlands and are two thin wafers with a layer of caramel in between. The result is a chewy cookie that isn’t overly sweet. You don’t need to travel all the way to the Netherlands to get them. You can find some on Amazon.

Tips for Making a Caramel Brulee Latte

Espresso

I used a stovetop moka pot to make espresso.

For a coffee drink to be called a latte, it needs to contain espresso. To make espresso, you need an espresso machine. The machine is able to apply the right amount of pressure for the water to pass through the coffee grounds.

However, if you don’t have an espresso machine, the next best option is a moka pot, which is what I use for most of my coffee recipes. It creates a concentrated, espresso like coffee and it’s so easy to use.

Check out our guide to making espresso without an espresso machine, including showing you how to use a moka pot.

Caramel Sauce

I used Torani Caramel Sauce.

I tend to use Torani’s line of sauces for my coffee drink recipes because they mix well in both hot and cold beverages. Plus, it works great for drizzling on top of the drink and also on other desserts like ice cream or even on pancakes

Milk

I used almond milk.

Feel free to use any type of milk you prefer. One of the benefits of making your own Starbucks inspired drinks at home is the ability to customize your drink easily, including which type of milk you use.

Toppings

I used store bought whipped cream and Stroopwafels.

Starbucks tops their drinks with a generous layer of whipped cream. Theirs is slightly sweetened with vanilla syrup. I used storebought whipped cream, so it’s also slightly sweet already.

If you plan on making your own whipped cream at home, simply use heavy cream and mix it on medium high speed with a mixer. Add in a little vanilla syrup to make it sweet.

Stroopwafels

For the caramel brulee topping, I decided to put pieces of a chewy caramel cookie called Stroopwafels. These are cookies that originated in the Netherlands, which consists of two thin waffle cookies with a layer of caramel inside.
