Let’s go on a fall coffee drink challenge! One week, fall inspired flavor flavors.

Skip around this article:

1. Sunday: Pumpkin Spice Latte

We can’t talk about fall coffee drinks without mentioning pumpkin spice lattes. So we’re kicking the week off with a classic PSL.

Created by Starbucks, this fall staple has been on their menu since 2003. But you can make an easy version of it at home (or an iced version too.)

We make ours with homemade pumpkin spice. Here’s how:

  1. Mix 1 teaspoon ground allspice, 1 teaspoon ground cloves, 1 teaspoon ground ginger, 2 teaspoons ground nutmeg and 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon. This is your pumpkin spice.
  2. Pull a double shot of espresso on your espresso machine. Or use a moka pot
  3. Combine 1 tbsp pumpkin purée, 1/4 tsp pumpkin spice and 1 cup milk in a saucepan over medium heat.
  4. Remove from heat and add espresso and 1 tsp or more of maple syrup
  5. Top with whipped cream and homemade pumpkin spice.

2. Monday: Dirty Chai Latte

It’s Monday morning. You want coffee but you also kind of want tea. But you also don’t have much time to think about it. And actually maybe you’ll just make a cup of both. But maybe not?

Well, good news is you don’t need to make a decision. Make a Dirty Chai Latte, which combines both espresso and chai tea and start the work week off right.

  1. Brew about ¼ cup of espresso. I use a moka pot.
  2. Heat 1 ½ cups of milk over the stovetop. When the milk starts to simmer, turn off the heat and pour in chai tea leaves or use tea bags. Steep for 15 minutes.
  3. Strain chai milk and add it to espresso.
  4. Top with frothed milk and a sprinkle of ground cinnamon.

3. Tuesday: Cinnamon Dolce Latte

You got through Monday. Now it’s Tuesday, so treat yourself with a Starbucks inspired drink – the Cinnamon Dolce Latte.

The Starbucks drink is made with their classic espresso, milk and a cinnamon dolce flavored syrup.

To top it, there’s a generous layer of sweetened whipped cream and a cinnamon dolce topping, made with cinnamon and sugar.

You can enjoy it at home either hot or iced, here’s how:

  1. Brew ½ cup of espresso. Add ⅛ tsp of ground cinnamon to the ground coffee before brewing.
  2. Add 1 tsp of vanilla syrup to espresso. Set aside to cool. (If making an iced version.)
  3. Mix ⅛ tsp of ground cinnamon and ⅛ tsp of white sugar to make cinnamon sugar.
  4. Put ice cubes (if making an iced version) in a glass. Pour espresso and 1 cup of milk.
  5. Top with whipped cream and sprinkle cinnamon sugar.

4. Wednesday: Choose a Flavored Coffee

You’ve made it to the middle of the week! Let’s start hump day with a classic cup of coffee, with a flavor twist. Why not try a seasonal Starbucks Fall Blend or Maple Pecan, in their Starbucks Flavored Fall Pack? (Which is also very giftable!)

Or how about one of your favorite alcoholic beverage flavors in a cup of coffee, but without the alcohol, like a rum and butterscotch aka the Highlander Grog coffee? Or even a smores flavored coffee

Check out our list of best flavored coffee

Or stick with your favorite coffee beans and consider making a Pumpkin Spice Coffee Creamer at home to add a little fall flavor to your cup.

Here’s an easy way to make it:

  1. Pour 3/4 cup heavy cream, 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk, 3 tbsp pumpkin puree and 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice in a mason jar.
  2. Shake the mason jar to combine the ingredients.
  3. Taste and add maple syrup for more sweetness if desired.
  4. Store in the refrigerator to use for the next few days.

5. Thursday – Snickerdoodle Coffee

Love Snickerdoodles? If you do, you’re going to love today’s fall inspired coffee drink recipe because the inspiration behind making it was a Snickerdoodle cookie.

If you haven’t had one before, a snickerdoodle is a soft and chewy cookie that’s made with flour, butter, sugar, eggs, baking soda and cinnamon. (It’s the cinnamon that makes this cookie different from a sugar cookie.)

I turned this flavor into a coffee drink. Here’s how you can make it:

  1. Add ¼ tsp of ground cinnamon to coffee grounds.
  2. Brew ¼ – ½ cup of coffee. I used a moka pot
  3. While coffee is brewing, steam 1 cup of milk and stir in ½ tbsp of brown sugar.
  4. Combine cinnamon flavored coffee and brown sugar flavored milk.
  5. Optional: Top with frothed milk and ground cinnamon.

6. Friday: Maple Cinnamon Coffee

It’s finally Friday! You made it to the end of the Monday to Friday work week. You may be exhausted from the week so we have another easy fall inspired coffee drink recipe to end the work week with.

Choose to make a really simple and tasty Maple Cinnamon Coffee – either hot or iced, whichever you’re feeling this morning.

  1. Brew 1/2 cup of coffee. Add 1/8 tsp of ground cinnamon to coffee grounds before brewing.
  2. While the coffee brews, steam 1 cup of milk.
  3. Stir in 1-2 tbsp of maple syrup to the freshly brewed coffee. (Wait for this to cool if you’re making an iced version.)
  4. Pour steamed milk into coffee. (Add ice if you’re making an iced version.)
  5. Optional: Top with whipped cream or foamed milk and sprinkle ground cinnamon.

7. Saturday: Amaretto Coffee

It’s the weekend so we’re adding booze to our cup of coffee.

But don’t worry. If you don’t want to have alcohol early in the morning or just prefer a non alcoholic version, there’s a way to make Amaretto Coffee with and without alcohol. (Amaretto is an almond flavored liquor that originated in Italy.)

Either way, it’s also topped with a generous layer of whipped cream. It’s time to treat yourself. Here’s how:

  1. Brew one cup of coffee. You can use your preferred method. I used a French press.
  2. Add one tablespoon of amaretto or 1 tablespoon of amaretto flavored syrup for a non alcoholic version.
  3. Top with whipped cream.
  4. Optional: Garnish with cocoa powder or ground cinnamon.

See our full Amaretto Coffee (With or Without Alcohol!) recipe here.

Bonus: Tasty Fall Treats (Coffee Inspired!)

Pumpkin and coffee go so well as we know from drinking Pumpkin Spice Lattes and adding Pumpkin Spice Coffee Creamer to our cups of coffee.

So this got me thinking about adding a coffee flavor to baked pumpkin flavored treats.

This is how I came up with our very own Pumpkin Bread and Pumpkin Muffins recipes, both topped with a delicious coffee frosting.

Enjoy. Happy fall!
