Looking for an easier and cheaper way to brew a cup of espresso? A Moka pot is your answer to the most convenient way to brewing your own espresso at home. Here’s why:
- You don’t have to pay hundreds of dollars for a machine that you may only use once
- Brewing espresso is easy and hassle free
Here’s a step by step guide to brewing espresso with a 3-cup Moka pot:
Step 1: Have your Moka pot parts clean and ready to use.
Step 2: Add water to the heating vessel just below the valve.
Step 3: Place the filter funnel on top of the bottom chamber, add fresh finely grounded in the filter funnel (about 2 tablespoons). We used our burr grinder to grind our coffee beans.
Step 4: Screw the top chamber to the bottom chamber.
Step 5: Place the Moka pot on the stovetop on medium low heat.
Step 6: Wait for a consistent gurgling sound and turn off the heat. If you prefer to see the coffee, you can open the lid. We prefer to leave the lid closed, although it won’t make any difference to the quality of your espresso. It took us 7 minutes 44 seconds to brew the espresso on medium low heat. It took about 15 minutes to brew it on low heat.
Step 7: Pour into a 3.5 oz espresso cup and enjoy.
